On September 16, 2022, the Inha Center for International Studies successfully held a conference under the topic of “30 Years of Korea-China Relations, 30 Years of Korean-Chinese in Korea: Reflections and Prospects” at the International Conference Hall of the Seoul Global Center.
The conference, sponsored by the Overseas Koreans Foundation and the Academy of Korean Studies, aimed to address the history of Korean return migration from China and different phases of Korean Chinese migrants in international relations over the past three decades, as well as current and future directions for Korean Chinese migrants.
The conference included five different sessions, consisting of ▲ the Formation and Change of Korean Chinese Society in Korea, ▲ Political Actions and Participation of Korean Chinese society, ▲ Laws, Policies, and Institutions, ▲ Understanding of Korean Chinese Migrants and Korean Society, and ▲ Discussion: Korea-China Relations and Korean Chinese.
The director, Jean Young Lee, said “The migration of Chinese compatriots to Korea, a historical homeland, has continued to increase over the past 30 years and has had a profound impact on Korean society and Korea-China diplomatic relations. Through presentations and discussions, we have prepared time to look back on the past 30 years and look forward to the future."
